An inventory of things:
Books I've read lately: HPHBP- shocking, but I still think that Snape is not a traitor. No sir, for Dumbledore will never beg for his life, ever. I cried so hard, because it was too much too soon. After SB's death, now this? JKR, what did you think your readers are made of? stone?!! The Bathroom Reader, History Edition- insanely fun to read, and comes in handy during the lofty pursuit of trivia [games of Trivial Pursuit for those of you dunces out there]. Principles of Anatomy and Physiology- tedious, lengthy, and not fun at all. However, the pictures are quite pretty, and I love the color scheme [pink and peach, which is the color of most of our organs, with a little bit of dark red and lime green here and there]. Various manga- does manga count as books? If so, here are a couple: Deathnote- intellectual and interesting, and certainly one of the most creative premises I've seen. Bleach- oh, Bleach, how do I love thee? let me count the ways... Mahou Sensei Negima- awesome, but reads a bit like HP sometimes. Tarot Cafe- pretty men + the supernatural = shiny! Gantz- gory, but really suspensful; I read 210 chapters all in one sitting. Naruto- Best manga/anime ever, period.
Music: MCR- I had no idea I would fall so hard for such a band. I mean, for the most part of the summer, I stayed away from this band due to the enthusiasm for it from thirteen-year olds who think that they are "suicidal, emo, and depressed"; In other words, from posers. But oh man, I love them to death now. Bloc Party- music you can dance to! Also, they have a really hot drummer- a rare thing these days. Franz Ferdinand- music you can dance to, part deux! Their first album was hella catchy, but the second one seems to me like they're trying to find a deeper meaning to their music. Which is not always a good thing. Fall Out Boy- Same thing as MCR. Come to think of it, I only like three of their songs. Oh well. Kanye West- Hurrah for preppy rappers! Daddy Yankee's "Gasolina"- I love this song. Really. And with the gas prices as they are now, I can truly say I want more gas.
Things I've Stolen: None! I've defeated my kleptomania once and for all!
Things I've Lied About: See above. I am a compulsive liar.
Things I've Bought: Anatomy Box- worth $240, it included the eternally useless textbook, lab manual, exercises, and the not-so-useless-but-still-pretty-damn-frivolous atlas. Aside from the box, I also needed a study guide, which I refused to buy. Lay's Barbecue Chips- mmmm, chips. HPHBP- the midnight party for HP the sixth was awesome! I had to drink a ton of Starbucks before, and by the time we got there [nine at night of July 15th] there were no bracelets left [you needed one to get in]. As we were talking outside, the girl beside us turns to us and asks if we wanted one. It turns out that she had an extra one from a friend who couldn't come, so I took it! In short, I got in, joined in the countdown, and finished the book in 6 hours. Cat food- food for my cat.
Movies I've Watched: Corpse Bride- really sad ending, but brilliant animations from the master of the morbid himself: Burton. Star Wars III- spawned a short but intense obsession for SW for me. Waiting- heh, penis showing game. Really funny, but five minutes afterward, forgot all about it. Except for "Welcome to the thunderdome, bitches," Monty rambling on about ethics, and the penis showing game. And Numerous Others I've Forgotten About Already- yeah, I've a short memory.
Games I've Played: LOTR: ROTK- finished this at three in the morning with my cousin, who later in the day departed to TX to join the air force. Tony Hawk's- meh, wasn't really into the skateboarding scene. Katamari Damacy- way too addicting for it's own good, and we finished it! DDR- the eternal dancing game all asians are good at.
Current Affairs:
Having lived in a country wracked by hurricanes constantly for most of my life, I never paid attention to Hurricane Katrina in the beginning. However, as the destruction progressed, I realized that America had never seen such devastation from Mother Nature herself. The images of the aftermath were just terrible, and the people...Oh God, the people. So many were stranded in Louisiana, and you could literally see floating bodies every few feet or so.
The delayed response of the government really showed the ineptitude of our current regime. People, we elected this man to become our president. We chose him. Why couldn't we have chosen better? Did 9-11 not teach us anything? I mean, Bush sat there reading to kids, even after the news that the towers were hit. Yet we still elected him. Gosh, we're smart.
It's not even like this came out of the blue. After last year's hurricane barrage, some experts prophesied the breaking of the levee and the devastation of the Louisiana area.
Add to this the artificial gas inflation, the current hurricane blowing through Texas [Another big oil state, just like Louisiana], and we've got ourselves one heck of a mess. Who's going to clean it up? I highly doubt the government has the capacity to fix this. Really, I think that the best thing we could do is rally up the masses and have ourselves a revolution. Viva la resistance!
